What is Laboratory Coop ?
A Laboratory Cooperative primarily composed of students from a particular school may affiliate with the school’s cooperative, if any, or select a cooperative of its choice within its area of operation.
What San Miguel De Marilao Multipurpose Cooperative can do for Laboratory Cooperative? To act as Guardian Cooperative and accept the responsibilities of supervising and monitoring the activities of the Laboratory Cooperative and act in its behalf in dealings with third parties when capacity to contract is required.
Importance and Benefits of Laboratory Cooperative
A laboratory cooperative shall be organized for any or all of the following purposes:To serve as a training ground for its members to prepare them for membership in regular cooperatives.To teach the values of thrift and saving mobilization among its members.To instill cooperative values, principles, financial discipline, business skills and leadership skills among its members.To promote and advocate Filipino social and cultural values, financial education, ecological awareness and sustainable development.
What are the requirements to be a Laboratory Cooperative members? Approved application for membership;Must not be over eighteen (18) years of age;Certificate of completion of the prescribed Pre-Membership;Subscribed and paid the required minimum share capital and membership fee.
History
The establishment of a laboratory cooperative in Marilao was conceptualized thru the effort of Director Raul R. Peña and Director Miguelito L. Andres of the San Miguel de Marilao Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SMMMPC) when they joined the expository tour Lakbay Aral of the Cooperative Candelaria, Zambales last June 14 and 15, 2017.
Director Raul R. Peña got hold of a flyer of Laboratory Cooperative of Mother Rita MPC. He then discussed it with Director Miguelito L. Andres who in turn agreed to the agreed to the idea of instuting the same here in Marilao and the base will be ANGELICAN SCHOOL OF MARILAO INC.
The idea approved by The Board of Directors of San Miguel De Marilao Multi-Purpose Cooperative and immediately seek for an audience with Mr. Jon Louie F. Santiago, our Municipal Cooperative Development Officer.
The two (2) directors from SMMMPC went to the Municipal Hall of Patubig on July 11, 2017 and discussed the matter with the concerned MCDO officers and staff.
The MCDO immediately acted on the idea of creating a laboratory cooperative which also conforms to the mandate of the CDA to promote the growth of cooperatives and contributes to the socio-economic development of minors through the organization of laboratory cooperatives.
The first pre-orientation seminar was held at the compound of Angelican School on September 26, 2017, joined by the MCDO staff, SMMMPC Board and Manager with the participation of about thirty (30) students, parents, and school officials and teachers.
On January 30, 2018 at 3:00 pm the first and pilot laboratory cooperative was launched, with the initiative of the MCDO staff headed by Mr. Jon Louie F. Santiago, and was named Angelican School of Marilao Inc, Laboratory Cooperative of San Miguel De Marilao MPC.
In the following days the laboratory cooperative created an intern set of Board of Directors, Secretary, Treasurer and CEO. At the same time the documents required were sent to MCDO office to be submitted to CDA for recognition.
